War is a cruel business. Soldiers
get wounded in action and someone has to take care of them.
After the First World War, Germans remembered the millions of
wounded soldiers, who fought in trenches at the western front against the Allies
and were left dead or wounded on the battlefields. No wonder that the German
manufacturers of toy soldiers tried to produce figures which allowed children
to replay this part of the war. Hausser and Lineol had a large variety of
figures in their production lines of the 7.5 cm scale toy soldiers devoted to
this theme.
When a soldier gets wounded on the battlefield, everyone
remembers the picture where he is shot, raises his arms, one hand still
holding the rifle and gets pushed back from the force of the bullet. Figures
which model this typical scene were produced by both companies.

From the experience of the First World War where it was
common to use gas as a weapon against the enemy, these models were also
produced wearing gasmasks.
