The 2 cm Flak 30 in operation during the Norwegian Campaign
|
In 1934 the weapon was introduced into the German Luftwaffe
in order to replace the anti-aircraft machine-gun MG C30. Its purpose was to provide
some defence capabilities to anti-aircraft artillery
units against low flying aircrafts. For the same reason it was also
introduced into army units.
The gun was first seen in action within the Spanish
civil war in 1936. There it was very successfully used during the battle of Bilabao,
where the republican positions were destroyed by it. The 2-cm-Flak 30
was also mounted on the half tracked 1 ton vehicle (Sd.Kfz. 10).
