Lineol produced a very detailed figure showing a sergeant operating the direction finder. However this figure is kneeling instead of standing in front of the device. The direction finder is made of tin with a tripod. Original items are very hard to find nowadays, but there are a lot of very well-done reproductions available.

A figure of the kneeling soldier taking notes was produced too. This figure represents a signal corps

soldier, but it can be easily used to complete this scene.

While the guns were brought into position the battery's observation post was set up. From there the observation officer tried to spot targets on the battlefield. The targets' locations were reported via cable transmitters to the battery officer at the gun positions.
